Here Come The ‘Canes Retro Smoke Tee
As Miami football emerges from their locker room tunnel, they appear to burst through a cloud of smoke. It began in the 1950s, and in an attempt to drive fan interest, they used fire extinguishers to produce the now-famous smoke. At the 1992 Orange Bowl, Nebraska, technically the home team, requested that Miami not participate in their tradition. However, the Miami mascot snuck in a fire extinguisher to simulate the traditional smoke and fire the players up. The Hurricanes then ran over the Huskers 22-0 to win the national title.
